Dr. Saurabh Lodha
This was my first appointment with a dermatologist and it was a lot less scary than anticipated! Dr. Lodha is full of knowledge and little facts that will make u want to treat your skin with more respect. He did not lecture yet he explained and I was very thankful for that. I would recommend anyone to go and see their new office – it’s great Dr. Lodha, was very reassuring about my concerns. He was also very explicit and caring about the small procedure he was performing. He was very thorough, gave me as much time as I needed, responding to my questions thoroughly. I highly recommend Dr. Lodha...

Cyst Removal

What is a cyst?
Cysts are closed sac-like structures that occur on the skin. They are generally filled with semisolid materials, certain gases, and/or liquid materials, such as puss or blood.
Most cysts are asymptomatic and have no associated symptoms. However, some cysts on the skin, mucous membranes, and those located with the organ system, are felt as a lump or raised portion of tissue. In many cases cysts are painful.

Cyst Removal Surgery & Injection Therapy
Cysts are usually found either on the skins surface or using ultrasounds, MRI’s or X-rays. Most cysts are relatively benign and can go without treatment, however, cosmetically many seek out cyst removal options.

One method of removal is by aspirating the cyst. This is done using a needle or catheter to collapse and drain the cyst as one would do with a pimple. The contents of the cyst are drained out, and it will generally heal as long as there isn’t a greater underlying issue causing it. In addition, the use of certain anti-inflammatory injection methods have been known to be quite effective in helping to reduce the presence of cysts, and prep them for removal.

For larger cysts that cannot be aspirated surgical measures are required. The area is numbed and using a scalpel or surgical knife the cyst is cut and removed from the skins surface. In many cases cysts can also be removed using laser skin resurfacing, however this is dependent on the size and type of cyst present.
